Marlene Sampaio Music School

Music festivals are performance competition opportunities for students of various levels and is one of the performance experiences offered to students at the studio.

Performance in a festival develops the student as a whole musician by encouraging students to showcase his/her talents at the piano to an audience while managing the pressure of a competition performance.

Preparing for a music festival requires the development of many practical skills such as learning how to set goals, organization, planning, and prioritizing.

Students recieve valuable adjudicator feedback which helps him/her to fine tune skill sets at the piano and in preparation for spring exams.

Music festivals can also inspire students as they watch more advanced students than themselves competing or are reminded of far they have come when watching newer students performing.

It is also an opportunity for audience members to be treated to a sampling of our local student talent.

All students are given the opportunity to participate in music festivals throughout the year. There are many festivals, however, students are encouraged to participate in the Biennial Milton Music Festival which occurs once every 2 years and the annual Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association (ORMTA) festival. Winners of the ORMTA music festival can go on to compete at the provincial levels.
